Right!? Our whole culture is so hate-me under the guise of humility, but humility is just being honest and being grateful and putting the focus on someone else, you can only love others as deeply as you can love yourself. Otherwise your self-hate turns to aggression toward others, and your insecurity to manipulation and dependency
I agree! In a way, I feel like mediocrity is somewhat celebrated in society. Or at least, it's the norm, and people side eye you if you try to rise above it. Like people when who focus on their health and wellness are considered pretentious because they want to treat their bodies better. Or, like Timothée, when people wanted to follow their dreams instead of just settling for an ok job. I think there can be some extremes, because I've encountered some people that are indeed pretentious and tell you you're not doing enough (the crypto bros of the world), but I don't think that was Timothée. He was just speaking his truth and sharing his ambitions.
It’s wild how today’s culture discourages self-praise while celebrating self-deprecation. Timothée’s speech was a rare, refreshing moment of someone unapologetically owning their aspirations—something we need more of.
Loved your perspective on this! Thank you for sharing ❤️✨
You made incredible points! I agree, I didn't see anything wrong with his speech and loved how he acknowledged other people on his team and people he looks up to. Jealous people feel so threatened by other people’s ambitions. It’s always the people who aren’t accomplished themselves who want to steal away others' ambitions. We were all born with immense potential, and not striving for greatness is doing ourselves a disservice. Great message, to keep dreaming big and aspiring for impact not materialism!
